Terms of Service

Last updated: July 24, 2026 · v1

Draft for review. This is a starting template, not legal advice. Have a qualified attorney review and adapt it before Hangers launches or accepts payments. Bracketed items like [Company Legal Name] need to be filled in.

Welcome to Hangers. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and [Company Legal Name] ("Hangers," "we," "us," or "our") and govern your access to and use of the Hangers website, apps, and services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account, reserving a username, joining our waitlist, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What Hangers is

Hangers is an online marketplace that helps clients ("Clients") discover and book independent personal stylists ("Stylists") for occasions and everyday styling. Hangers is a venue and technology provider — we are not a stylist, employer, or agency, and we do not provide styling services ourselves. Stylists are independent third parties responsible for the services they offer. We are not a party to any agreement between a Client and a Stylist.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. By using Hangers, you represent that you meet these requirements and that the information you provide is accurate and current.

3. Waitlist and username reservations

Before launch, you may reserve a username and join our waitlist by providing an email address. A reservation expresses interest and holds a username on a best-effort basis; it does not create an account, guarantee availability at launch, or entitle you to any service. We may release, reassign, or decline usernames — for example, ones that are offensive, infringe rights, impersonate others, or are inactive.

4. Accounts

When accounts become available, you are responsible for the information you provide and for keeping your login credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.

5. Stylists

  • Stylists are independent contractors, not employees or agents of Hangers.
  • Stylists are solely responsible for the styling services they provide, their communications, their pricing, and for meeting any legal, tax, licensing, and insurance obligations.
  • Stylists must accurately describe their services, experience, and any linked social accounts, and must own or have the rights to any content they upload.

6. Clients

Clients are responsible for evaluating whether a Stylist is right for them, for the accuracy of information they share, and for their conduct during any session. Styling is a matter of taste; Hangers does not guarantee outcomes, satisfaction, or that a session will meet your expectations.

7. Bookings, payments, and fees

This section is a placeholder to be finalized before payments go live, and must align with our payment processor's terms.

When booking becomes available, Clients will pay for sessions through the Service. We expect to use a third-party payment processor (e.g., Stripe) and may hold funds until a session is complete. Hangers may charge service fees, which will be disclosed before you confirm a booking. Cancellation, refund, and payout terms will be described at the time of booking and in a separate policy.

8. User content

You retain ownership of the content you submit (such as photos, text, and profile details). You grant Hangers a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and distribute that content solely to operate, promote, and improve the Service. You are responsible for your content and must not upload anything you don't have the rights to.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to: break the law; harass, harm, or impersonate others; post false, infringing, or harmful content; circumvent fees or take Hangers-originated relationships off-platform to avoid fees; scrape or misuse data; interfere with the Service's security or operation; or use the Service for anything other than its intended purpose.

10. Intellectual property

The Service, including its design, logos, and software, is owned by Hangers and protected by law. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use the Service for its intended purpose. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

11. Third-party services

The Service may link to or integrate third parties (for example, Instagram, TikTok, or a payment processor). We are not responsible for third-party services, and your use of them is governed by their own terms.

12. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or endorse or guarantee any Stylist, Client, or the quality, safety, or legality of any styling services.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hangers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any interactions or transactions between Clients and Stylists. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or [USD $100]. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Hangers harmless from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your breach of these Terms.

15. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or others. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of [State/Country], without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. [Insert dispute-resolution approach — e.g., courts of a specified location, or an arbitration and class-action-waiver clause if desired.] Please have counsel tailor this section to your jurisdiction and business.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Hangers evolves. If we make material changes, we'll take reasonable steps to notify you (for example, by email or in the app). Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
